Learning Blog on Specials

For Chinese Studies I think I am good at writing Chinese characters and reading Chinese character. But I don't know some words so sometimes I have to ask someone else. I also need to work on handing in my book report because sometimes I don't have time and I do it on Thursday and it due on Friday so I have to stay up later at night. On Monday I learned Chinese Chess and we had to play it. At first I thought it was confusing and I didn't get it. But when the teacher gave us instructions I started to get it. One challenge I had in Chinese Studies was to take the Replacement test. I didn't do it yet but I had to practice and it was really hard because you had to write the whole thing in Chinese, and I don't know some of the Chinese word that I want to write so it is really hard.

In the beginning of the year in Art we had to use our hand and count how many fingers can fill in our nose and a lot more.This helps me find out how much space I need to draw my portrait. Later after we did that we needed to paint of face with the parts that are dark and that are not dark at all. After we were done with that we needed to take our picture and paste it on a piece of paper and use something that was bamboo and press it against the paper. Something else we worked on later on in the year was that we had to work on our Ape portraits. We had a picture of an Ape and we had to draw it out with a lot of detail and and color till the whole page was filled with color. One of the challenges in Art was the great ape portrait.

For Music for the xylophones we had to play different kind of songs and that was pretty hard because we needed to read the notes and I am bad at it even though I play the piano. Something else we did in Music was we went on Music Ace. It was really hard because we had to learn about minor scales and their is a scale that ever mistake you do they will subtract some of your score that you earned when you were playing. One of the challenges that were in Music was to play different songs on the xylophones because as I said before I am not that good at reading Music.

What we did in P.E was we played volleyball. This was sort of hard because we had to serve the ball and hit it. Something that I am not good at in volleyball is hitting it, I am not good at this because every time I try hitting the ball I always doge the ball. Before doing volleyball we were at the 4th floor doing gymnastics. Nothing was really hard for me to do in the gymnastic room because when I was in 3rd grade I did gymnastics after school. Something really hard in P.E. was volleyball because everybody was hitting the ball and I didn't really get a chance to hit the ball, but later on I got to. It is really hard to hit the ball because sometimes it fly's right behind you and sometimes it fly's on the out line.

For Counseling what I enjoy doing is doing the role plays because they are really fun and we get to work together. Something else we did was we looked at a paper and see if we have a right brain, left brain, or both. We also worked on eye contact to each other and listening to what they are saying and try to tell them something back. Something else is we have be listening and be able to tell the person something back. One of the challenges in Counseling is to listen carefully because sometimes you hear someone else talking and you want to listen to their conversation. But the tricky part is if you are listening to the person next to you, you don't know what to tell the person that you are talking to.

Story of Learning

So far I am doing good for my math goal. My goal for my math is to ask questions to the teacher when I do not understand a problem. But sometimes I ask the person next to me. In math I am getting better at not asking the teacher what to do because at home on the weekends my mom gives me a few math problems and I have to figure them out. Sometimes I have some mistakes in my test so when I get it wrong my mom tells me that I have to figure the question out until I get it and my answer is correct. Another goal I didn't write down in my" Academic Goal" Is memorizing my multiplication and getting better on it like if someone says was is 12 times 3 then I have to answer the answer really fast. For my writing goal is to be more specific in my sentence's one of the sentences I put in my site was "she had soft blond hair." But now I am more specific for example "She had silky hair". For reading my goal was to choose reading material at my level. Now I am choosing the books that I am read because some of the books that are fluent I don't get it.

For reading, math, and writing I had a few challenge's. For writing the challenge was to write a paragraph about the Civil War because I don't know anything about the Civil War. But it is easy for me to find information because we have books and movies about the Civil War to help me with the report. For the report we needed to write about what the Accoutrement were for the Union and Confederates. Also what the Unions wore and what the Confederates wore during the Civil War. For reading my challenge is to read 6th grade books and to read fluently through a book. Finally for my math it is getting better at multiplying and dividing fractions and being fast at doing. I have overcome my challenges by trying my best in all of my challenge's.

1. What is one piece of important learning in reading or writing you have gained this week?

In writing a piece that is important and has a lot of information is my pollution project. We have to write a essay, the first paragraph is introduction, second one is main idea and your explanation has to support your main idea, the third and fourth you do the same thing finally the 5th on you write an conclusion.

2. Explain how this has helped you in your reading or writing.
This will help me for my writing because I can make my essay stronger and better so people will read it somethings I can do is making my 5 paragraphs organized I can also make the 5 paragraphs have a lot of detail in it so it will make the essay better. Something else I do making my essay is to make my main idea have a lot of support . I also can learn more about pollution so when people ask me what we are doing to make the world a better place I can tell them about pollution

3. Explain what the difference is between a common noun and a proper noun.
A common noun is a word that you see commonly, like desk,cat,car. A proper noun is a name like Jill or Mary. It can also be a computer name like DELL.

Unit 4 Time to Reflect

1. Tell why you think it is important to be able to divide numbers. For what kind of problems do you need to use division?

I think it is important to know how to divide because,when you are getting change from people you need to divide.Problems you need to divide with is like 5 divided by 30 is 6.Another reason why division is important is because math is very important to you you need it for doing grocery shopping and others.

2. Tell what part of this unit was the most difficult for you and why. Describe what you did to overcome any difficulties you had.

The most difficult thing in division is to figure out what will fit into something like 71 divided by 20 it is hard for me to think what goes into 20 and fits 75. What I did was I did what was most likely to fit into 20.

Writing Reflection

1. What do I notice about myself as a writer as I read through my work?
I notice that sometimes I spell something wrong and use my punctuation wrong so I have to go back and check.Another thing is that I add some details that don't really make sense.

2. How have I changed as a writer so far?

What I have changed so far is that I use better punctuation and that I also have better comas and periods.My spelling is getting better too!Another thing is that I always try remembering some of the details like My stomach has butterflies in them and other things like that.

3. What are three things I do well as a writer?

The three things I do well in writing is that I always have good spelling,strong details,and alot of description in it too.

4. What are some things I want to get stronger at as a writer?

somethings are that I have people publish it so I know what I need to work on and that I also want to do as stronger writer is learn more about punctuation.

5. What is my favorite piece, and what are the things I love about it?

My favorite piece is the piece I wrote for fourth grade the thing I love about it is that I always add detail to it and some punctuation to it.

Factor Captor,and Arrays =Yum!

Factor Captor:
Factor Captor is fun what i liked about it is that sometimes you can play tricks on other people like you can pick a prime number and there is nothing your opponent so they have to pick the one and the other number or the number multiplied by itself , what you can also do is that you can also learn your multiplication when your doing it.So your learning and playing!.

Reading Rocks and Math yuck

Reading: This year I've read many books and they were awesome. One thing that i learned in reading is that the author maybe write by typing but you can feel the way the Author is explaining everything.For example Mr.Daw my teacher read us Honus and Me, when the Author Dan Gutman wrote a part of the book said something we felt it and read it the way it was sappose to be read.Another reason is that Reading and writing are kind of together so when it come to reading i can understand the consept better.Same as writing i know how to write so when i read i can fell and know what the author is talking,writing about.

Math: I think that math is good for you even if i don't like it that much. Math is good because it helps you, for example if you go to the super market you want to buy something and you dontn know who much change you need to give to the people working in the casheir. Another reason is that you can also know how to add or subtract.Maybe you want to be a teacher when you grow up,how are you going to teach your kids when your a mother or father???? My learning in math is that sometime s i need help if I dont really know the problem weel enough so if someone went through it with me then i coud finish it in 15 minutes if theres noise in the background but if there isn't then i can finish it in 10 minutes.
